It started out as a normal day in New York on September 11, 2001. In Boston however, American Airlines Flight 11 departed 14 minutes late at 7:59 A.M. It was heading for Los Angeles, California when 5 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked the plane at 8:14 A.M. Back in Boston another plane departed. United Airlines Flight 175 to be exact. The plane had taken off at the same time as the other plane got hijacked at 8:14 A.M. None of them knew where they were going or what would happen to them.
In New York, people were getting out of bed, going to work, or just sleeping in. But then something went very wrong. At 8:46 A.M. American Airlines flight 11 had hit the North tower! People were screaming and crying. A lot of people in the Twin Towers were jumping out the windows and died as they hit the ground! 57 minutes after that at 9:03 A.M. United Airlines Flight 175 hit the South tower! It was horrible!
56 minutes after the South tower got hit, at 9:59, the North tower fell to the ground. Right after that, twenty-nine minutes later, the south tower fell to the ground. There stood the remains of the Twin Towers. Almost three thousand people lost their lives that day, including the hijackers, the people on the planes, the people in the towers and a lot of loved ones.
